Overview

Fleas ride in on pets and settle into the fabric of a home: deep in carpets, between floorboards, under rugs, and inside furniture, with a share of the population always waiting in the yard. Brisbane's warm, humid weather keeps them active for much of the year, so a light problem can build into an itchy, house-wide one faster than most people expect.

The thing that makes fleas stubborn is their life cycle. What you notice are the adults, but the eggs, larvae, and protected pupae make up most of the population and a single spray never reaches all of them. That is why our flea work is built around timing: the first treatment knocks down the active fleas and larvae, and a follow-up window catches the new ones as they emerge, before they breed and start again.

We treat the carpets, floors, skirting, furniture, and the yard harbourage together, because leaving any of those untreated leaves a reservoir to reinfest from. Flea jobs are common at the end of a lease where pets were kept, and we treat those to the standard the agent expects. The one part we cannot do is the pet itself, which needs treating through your vet to stop the cycle at its source.

01

Where fleas hide in a Brisbane home

Adult fleas spend their time on the pet, but the eggs roll off wherever the animal rests: into carpet pile, floorboard gaps, rugs, pet bedding, and the base of lounges. Outside, they sit in shaded, sandy soil and under decks where the pet lies.

We treat all of these zones together, indoors and out, because a flea problem left in the yard or the sofa simply reseeds the rooms you just cleared.

02

Working to the flea life cycle

A flea's life runs from egg to larva to pupa to adult, and the pupa stage is shielded enough that no single treatment reaches it. New adults keep emerging for days after the first spray.

That is why our approach includes a follow-up window rather than banking on one visit. The second pass meets the newly hatched fleas before they mature and breed, which is where one-off treatments usually come undone.

03

End-of-lease and rental treatments

Where a tenancy allowed pets, a professional flea treatment is often required before the bond is returned, and agents commonly want a receipt on file. It is one of the most frequent flea jobs we handle across North Brisbane.

We treat the carpets, floors, and yard to the standard the exit condition report expects and provide documentation, so the handover and bond conversation are clean.

04

Before, after, and keeping fleas gone

Before we arrive, vacuum thoroughly and empty the vacuum outside, wash pet bedding hot, and clear the floors. Afterwards, keep vacuuming every few days, which helps trigger any remaining pupae to hatch into the treated environment.

The most important ongoing step is keeping the pet's own vet treatment current. Without it, fleas ride back in and the whole cycle restarts, no matter how well the house was treated.

Safety and property care

Safe treatment, and care for your home

Flea treatment goes onto the carpets, floors, and yard your pets and kids use every day, so it's applied at safe rates and given time to dry before anyone's back on the floor.

  • Registered products, safe ratesWe use products registered for flea control indoors and outdoors, applied at label rates for a home with children and pets.
  • Off the floor until dryKeep kids and pets off treated carpets and floors for a couple of hours while they dry, then the areas are safe to use as normal.
  • Room by room if neededWe can treat room by room if you need to keep part of the house usable, rather than closing the whole property for the visit.
  • Vacuum before, vacuum afterVacuum thoroughly and empty it outside before we arrive, then keep vacuuming every few days afterwards. That helps trigger any remaining pupae to hatch into the treated carpet.

Andy completed a pest inspection at our property in Brisbane and his knowledge is second to none. He is very friendly and genuine and provided a great service. At the end of the pest inspection, he showed us through his findings and talked through different pest control methods and some things we could do to help lessen the chance of any termites finding the property attractive.

Common questions

Pest and termite questions, answered

What should I do before a flea treatment?

Vacuum thoroughly first, including carpets, rugs, floorboard gaps, and under furniture, then empty the vacuum straight into an outside bin. Wash all pet bedding in hot water, and clear the floors so the technician can reach the areas fleas live in. Arrange to treat the pet itself through your vet as well, because an untreated animal keeps reseeding the home.

Why does flea treatment need a follow-up?

Because of the flea life cycle. A single treatment kills the adult fleas and larvae it contacts, but flea eggs and pupae are protected and can hatch days later, well after the first spray. That is why a follow-up window matters: the second pass catches the newly emerged fleas before they breed again. One-off sprays often fail for exactly this reason.

Do I really need a professional, or will supermarket sprays work?

Supermarket foggers and sprays treat the surface but rarely reach the carpet depths, floorboard gaps, and yard harbourage where eggs and larvae sit. A licensed technician treats those zones directly and works to the life cycle with follow-up timing. If a light problem has become a house-wide one, or you are treating a rental to a standard, professional treatment is the reliable path.

Is flea treatment safe for children and pets?

Yes. We use registered products applied by a licensed technician at the right rate for a home with children and pets. Keep everyone off treated surfaces until they dry, usually a couple of hours, and keep the pet's own vet treatment current. We tell you which areas to stay clear of and for how long. If anyone has sensitivities, let us know first so we can adjust.

Do you do end-of-lease flea treatments in Brisbane?

Yes, this is one of our more common flea jobs. Many Brisbane tenancies require a professional flea treatment at the end of a lease where pets were kept, and agents often ask for a receipt. We treat the carpets, floors, and yard to the standard the condition report expects and provide documentation, so the bond conversation is straightforward.
