Common questions

Pest and termite questions, answered

How much does pest control cost?

General pest treatments start from $180 for a standard Brisbane home and include a free service period. The exact price depends on the property size, the pests involved, and whether you want a one-off visit or ongoing cover. Termite and other specialised work is quoted after we have seen the job. You always get a clear price before the technician starts.

How often should I get pest control?

For general pests, an annual treatment keeps most Brisbane homes protected through the warmer months when ants, cockroaches and spiders are most active. Termite inspections are recommended at least once a year, and more often for homes near bushland or with a history of activity. We can set a reminder so a treatment is never left too long.

Is pest control safe for children and pets?

Yes. We use registered products applied by a licensed technician, placed and dosed with children and pets in mind. We explain any short re-entry time before we treat, tell you which areas to keep clear and for how long, and choose baits or targeted applications over broad spraying wherever the job allows.

Do I need to leave the house during pest control?

For most general treatments you do not need to leave for long. We ask that you keep children and pets off treated surfaces until they dry, usually a couple of hours. For heavier internal work we tell you upfront how long to stay clear. We plan the visit around your day where we can.

How long does a pest treatment last?

A standard general treatment protects a typical Brisbane home for several months, though it varies with the pest, the season, and the pressure from gardens and neighbours. Our packages include a free service period, so if the treated pests return inside that window we come back at no extra charge. Ongoing packages keep the cover topped up through the year.

How quickly can you come out?

Because we run from Wavell Heights in the middle of our service area, most North Brisbane jobs get a quick response, and we can often fit an urgent pest problem in fast. Booking online or calling gives us the detail to prioritise. For a standard treatment we find the earliest slot that suits your day.

Do you provide termite inspections?

Yes. We inspect to AS 3660, covering the interior, subfloor and perimeter, and give you a written report with clear options. We also carry out pre-purchase timber pest inspections for buyers. If we find activity, we explain the treatment choices without pressure. An annual inspection is the cheapest way to catch termites early.

Do you provide commercial pest control?

Yes. We work with cafes, restaurants, offices, warehouses, strata, and property managers, treating discreetly and around your trading hours. We supply the service reports and compliance documentation a food-safety or hygiene audit expects, and one point of contact looks after every site on your books.

Can I book online?

Yes. Bruin uses an online booking system, so you can schedule a treatment in under a minute without waiting to talk to anyone. Prefer to talk it through first? Call 1300 349 177 or send a quote request and the family-owned team will get back to you.

What should I do before a pest treatment?

Clear access to skirting boards and the outside perimeter, put food and dishes away, and secure pets. If a technician is treating inside, cover fish tanks and move pet bowls. A quick vacuum first helps the treatment land on clean surfaces. We send any specific preparation steps when you book.

What should I do after pest control?

Keep off treated surfaces until they dry, usually a couple of hours, and avoid mopping skirting boards straight away so the treatment stays where it works. You may see more insect activity for a few days as pests move through the treated areas, which is normal. If the treated pests persist beyond the service period, call us and we will come back.

Why do pests come back after treatment?

Usually because the source was not dealt with, or new pests moved in from a garden or a neighbour. That is why we treat the cause, not just the trail, and proof entry points where we can. Our general packages include a free service period, and ongoing plans keep the cover in place so a returning problem is caught early.
